It's been a busy few weeks for us here at Trailblazer Systems!
Let me share a few of the happenings in both our business and personal lives.
I had just recovered and come off crutches after a serious ankle break in December when at the end of March I was blessed with a baby girl, Mikaela. She was however 4 weeks prem and had to go into the NICU. This meant I had to work limited hours and took my parental leave a lot earlier than planned. We were nevertheless glad that she made it to 34 weeks after a 28 week early labour scare. The wonderful doctors we worked with managed to stop the early labour.
We then experienced the floods in KZN. Myself and my colleagues were either without water or without electricity for over a week. Our internet and communication lines were also disrupted. A number of our clients were badly affected and had their servers and workstations destroyed and/or damaged by water. We prioritised these clients to get them back up and running. This incident highlighted the need for off-site (cloud) backups which saved many of our clients. Even servers and backup drives in fireproof safes can get washed away and damaged by water (we witnessed that a few weeks ago at many clients who sadly lost all their data). And then my newborn baby and my wife recently had Covid and had to be admitted to hospital for a week - an interesting challenge when you already have a 2 year old to manage.
Nevertheless my team and I have managed to overcome the challenges of the last few months and are ready to serve our clients with the usual high standards you've come to expect from us. We have some exciting expansion plans in the pipeline which we will share with you closer to the time.
